At the south of Greece lies Nemea, known as the land of Hercules, but also home to Agiorgitiko (ah-jee-or-jit-iko). In this characterful sun-drenched landscape, this grape reigns supreme, creating wines that are bold, juicy and surprisingly light. Here it pairs with the complex, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon - which brings a little structure to the party. The winery behind this brilliant blend is Danaon Gea - a family founded and run winery tucked away in the rolling hills of the Peloponnese at the southern tip of Greece, producing small batches of high-quality wines, with hand-picked grapes. We like it slightly chilled, on a sunny terrace.
