Perhaps the first crowd-sourced cider apple variety, propagated in the 1930s by Edward Ball, the head of Bulmers Nursery, from locally grown Foxwhelp and Meddaille d'Or. It is a soft bittersweet apple, fermented in an oak cask and giving a cider full of flavour and lovely smooth tannins and body.
